FOLSOM, Calif. – Repairs to the American River Bike Trail will require temporary detours between the Negro Bar and Beals Point Bar park units in the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area beginning Monday April 11.
The trail paving and improvement project by California State Parks is expected to last through Friday, May 20, 2016. Portions of the trail will be closed seven days a week to accommodate construction and paving crews. There will be detours in place around the closures routing trail traffic onto Auburn Folsom Road.
“This heavily used section of trail is enjoyed by pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians and we understand that this work may result in an inconvenience for many of our park visitors,” said Superintendent Rich Preston. “We ask for the public’s cooperation by adhering to the closures and detours. They are in place for the safety of the public, work crews and to expedite the completion of the project.”
The Folsom Lake State Recreation Area administers approximately 15 miles of the paved American River Parkway trail between Hazel Bridge and Beals Point, including both the north and south sides of Lake Natoma.
