June 17, 2021 (SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev.)– Five Tahoe area Raley’s stores are currently offering savings on tickets to the American Century Championship, the celebrity golf tournament featuring nearly 90 sports and entertainment stars at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, July 7-11. Daily tickets are available Friday through Sunday for $27 each, a $3 savings off the regular price; or $23 each when purchasing $50 or more in groceries, a $7 or 23% savings, with a limit of four tickets per day per person.
The 32nd edition of golf’s premier celebrity tournament will welcome back fans following last year’s pandemic which prevented public attendance. Participating Raley’s Stores in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. include outlets next to the Heavenly Village, 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd., and at 1040 Emerald Bay Rd.; and in Nevada on 930 Tahoe Boulevard in Incline Village; 3701 So. Carson St., Carson City, NV; 1363 Hwy. 395 in Gardnerville.
The celebrity field for this year’s extravaganza is being touted as the best in tournament history with superstars Justin Timberlake, Tony Romo, Annika Sorenstam, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Charles Barkley, Canelo, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Larry the Cable Guy, Ray Romano with other announcements anticipated. All told, the field collectively represents 16 Hall of Famers, 13 Most Valuable Player awards and 15 Cy Young Awards, and eight Player of the Year Awards. Players will be competing for $600,000 in prize money with the winner claiming $125,000.
The tournament will be televised live from Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, its home since the 1990 inaugural, on NBCSN from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. PT on Friday, July 9; and on NBC from 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. PT on Saturday, July 10 and Sunday, July 11. Additional coverage will be provided by Golf Channel through the course of the week.
The 2021 American Century Championship will utilize the Modified Stableford format whereby points are awarded as follows: 10 for a double eagle, 8 for a hole in one, 3 for a birdie, 1 for par, 0 for bogey, and minus 2 for double bogey. Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, a George Fazio design, has been rated by Golf Digest Magazine as one of “America’s Top 100 Golf Courses.”
