Donner Summit Ca – Auburn Ski Club Training Center on Donner Summit is well known for putting on Nordic and Biathlon races and a plethora of training programs for skiers and snowboarders, but they’re changing it up with the Crow Moon Equinox Ski Tour.
In celebration of the Vernal Equinox and the nearly full moon on Sat., March 19th, ASC is hosting a XC ski tour along its groomed trail system to Crater Lake. Crater Lake lies at an elevation of 7,640 ft. and is situated at the end of volcanic Boreal Ridge. Once at the lake, skiers will enjoy a bonfire and take in the moon rise along with panoramic views of Castle Peak, Devil’s Peak, the Pacific Crest and the Summit Valley. After the bonfire, the group will ski back down to the ASC lodge for a catered dinner and drinks.
The round trip tour is approximately 6km and is recommended for intermediate skiers and above, due to steep climbs, descents and the added element of night skiing.
Group size is limited and advance reservations are required. ASC Members: $30 Non-members: $40. Call 530-426-3313 (ext. 100) to reserve your spot or sign-up online at AthleteinYou.com
