Eastern Sierra Ghost Town Comes to Life After Dark
Bodie Ca, August18, 2016 August 27 2016, – Seeking one last family event before summer comes to a close in the Sierra? How about a late night trip to the just off the edge of the Eastern Sierra to the Historic Ghost Town of Bodie? Saturday, August 27th, Bodie State Park has an extended hour late night event including 1.5 mile Ghost walk and Stargazing Event for the whole family.
A Remarkable Tour and A Remarkable Evening
Bodie will stay open until 10pm for the General Public. You are welcome to enjoy town on your own or take a tour and turn your night into an experience that will last a lifetime!!
The 1.5 hour Ghost Walk begins at 6pm at the Church. As we meander through the quiet streets, you will learn of the most fascinating ghost stories and legends of Bodie. We will visit hangouts of the notorious, peer into the homes of the gentle and walk among the spirits of the past…
At 8pm, there will be an Exclusive Ghost Mill Tour. The 116 year old Standard Mill will be especially spooky under dim lights… You will hear strange tales of the place where memories have collected for over a century.
If you have ever experienced Bodie at night, you know that the star studded sky is breathtaking. It is a perfect time to learn of the ancient stories of our universe. Astronomer Dave Hurst will begin the ‘Star Stories’ at 8:30pm.

Bodie is Located :
The park is northeast of Yosemite, 13 miles east of Highway 395 on Bodie Road (Hwy 270), seven miles south of Bridgeport.
From U.S. 395 seven miles south of Bridgeport, take State Route 270. Go east 10 miles to the end of the pavement and continue 3 miles on a dirt road to Bodie. The last 3 miles can at times be rough. Reduced speeds are necessary. Call the park if there are any questions about road conditions.
Facilities and Activities
Bodie is a ghost town. Today it looks much the same as it did over 50 years ago when the last residents left. To preserve the ghost town atmosphere, there are no commercial facilities at Bodie, such as food or gasoline. There is a bookstore inside the museum where you may also inquire about daily tours.
Restrooms (flush toilets) are located at the parking lot and the picnic area.
Souvenirs and Collecting
Everything in Bodie is part of the historic scene and is fully protected. NOTHING may be collected or removed from the park. Metal detectors are not allowed.
Closed Areas
For public protection, certain unstable sections of the park are posted as prohibited areas, and are closed to entry by park visitors.
Camping
There is no camping at Bodie. Contact U.S. Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management offices for nearby camping information.
Dogs
Dogs are permitted in the park but must be on a leash at all times. Please clean up after your pet.
