After 6pm tonight the Caldor Fire did Cross HWY 89 in Lake Tahoe (Christmas Valley near Myers).
South Lake Tahoe NV, August 30, 2021 – 10:00pm – The Worst case scenario has played out tonight in south Tahoe. The Caldor fire driven by high winds and plenty of fuel today crested the Echo summit and threw various spot fires across the Christmas Valley canyon.
Video Shown by ABC10 confirms that the fire has indeed crossed Route 89 in Christmas Valley in several locations with one spot near Santa Claus Lane quickly turning into a Crown fire headed uphill just behind Meyers.
After this Douglas County Nevada released a press release placing residence in douglas County Nevada in the south Lake adn Kingsbury grade region on alert for possible evacuations.
Douglas county is asking the following communities to be on alert and start preparing for potential evacuations. Evacuations have not been ordered at this time, in Douglas County, however theere is potential for evacuations orders in near future.
The communities possibly affected include:
- Upper Kingsbury (South)
- Upper Kingsbury (North)
- Central Kingsbury
- Lower Kingsbury
- Round Hill Region
- Lake Village
- Lower Olivers, Kale Drive region
The evacuation warnings will include areas from Highway 50 at Lake Parkway, east to Elks Point road (Excluding Stateline Casinos, State Route 50 to Tramway Drive, including all areas North and South of Kingsbury grade.
Douglas County is asking residents to stay vilagant, pay attention to emergency phone alerts.
The Nevada Department of Transportation is Closing the following routes:

– SR 207 West Bound at Foothill Rd
– SR 28 and US 50 Jct West Bound on 50
