Kirkwood Ski resort, March 62015 – Fresh off a weekend of fresh snow in the Sierra, Kirkwood Ski Resort is ready to pounce on the great ski conditions and clear ski forecast with a full weekend of ski options. With 16″ of new snow in the last week and 2300 acres of open skiing, Kirkwood Ski resorts is looking forward to a great ski weekend.
So why head to Kirkwood?  Two events highlight what is sure to already be an awesome ski weekend in the Sierra. The Rahlves’ Banzai Tour is set to launch its second of three legs in the Banzai Tour. Completing leg one at Alpine Meadows two weeks ago, where snow and weather conditions were challenging, Kirkwood is excited to unleash these banzai racers on it’s steep slopes, promising high-speed ski and snowboard racing action for all to enjoy.

This event was created by former Olympic ski racer and X-Games Champion, Daron Rahlves, and is a combination of big-mountain free ski meets boarder cross race. The race takes place in heats where racers face off, four at a time, with the top two finishers of each heat moving on to the next round. The start of the Kirkwood Banzai drops into the legendarily steep section of the “The Wall” known as All the Way, a double black diamond. Don’t think of a normal, groomed downhill race; The Rahlves’ Banzai Tour sends the competitors through moguls, over natural jumps and into narrow gullies.
This is one of the most exciting weekends of the entire season at Kirkwood. There are many excellent spots for spectating including on The Wall, at the Alaska Airlines Flight Deck and at the finish line located at the end of Snow Snake Gully.
More information and registration can be found on the event websitewww.rahlvesbanzai.com

If high-speed racing is not your cup of tea, then for the ladies Kirkwood is also offering a two-day Ladies only Ski camp designed to take women to the next level by improving your skills and pushing your own boundaries. This is not a free event and does take reservations, but not only are the ladies challenged and groomed to become better, strong more confident skiers, but they will be catered too with after ski party and shopping event that is sure to make it a great weekend with your friends on the slope. Book the camp by calling 209.258.7360
