Winter Storm Watch Now In Effect From Tuesday Evening Through Sunday Afternoon Above 5000 Feet

Sacramento Ca – National Weather Advisory – Dec. 20 , 2021 – A series of winter storms will bring multiple rounds of light to heavy mountain snow and gusty winds Tuesday through Sunday. Snow expected to begin in the Sierra Tuesday Evening with up to 1 foot is snow possible above 6000 feet.

Heavier snow is forecasted to start Wednesday night into Thursday with an additional 1-2 feet possible each day and much lower snow levels.

Major travel delays and difficult travel conditions are anticipated. gusty winds will further reduce visibilities during this storm event with local white out conditions possible.

Holiday travelers should prepare for winter driving conditions by packing chains, warm winter clothes, and extra food and water.

What…. Heavy snow possible. travel will be difficult to impossible. Damage to trees and powerlines is possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 feet. with localized amounts up to 10 feet are possible.

Where… From Tuesday evening Through Sunday afternoon Dec 21- 26. Western Plumas County/ Lassen Park and the West Slope of Northern Sierra Nevada.

When…. From Tuesday evening through Sunday afternoon. Lowering snow levels down to 3000 feet. Possible localized snow levels as low as 2500 feet.

For the Winter weather advisory, wet snow expected. total accumulations of 1-4 inches, except 5-12 inches over 7000 feet. Winds gusty up to 75 mph over exposed ridges.

For the Winter Storm watch, heavy snow is possible. Total snow Accumulation of 1 to 3 feet, except 3 to 8 feet over 7000 feet.

Snow may mix with rain below 6000 feet.
