The month-long social campaign encourages a more inclusive outdoors by engaging all communities to celebrate the simple act of getting outside.

Brooklyn, NY (March 15, 2021) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – The In Solidarity Project , a nonprofit aiming to further efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the outdoor industry, will partner with ten outdoor brands and organizations for the first-ever  #RunHikeBike challenge; starting today and running through April 15th. The goal of the social-driven campaign is to spark an inclusive, online community for participants to accomplish attainable goals set outdoors, from biking to hiking and running.

Originated by Teresa Baker, activist and founder of the In Solidarity Project, the campaign encourages and motivates participants to get outdoors by sharing simple, straightforward pledges of what they plan to do and then documenting when they’ve done it. By sharing images and pledges predominantly through social media, Baker and campaign brand partners aim to foster a sense of community, creating visibility and support that they hope will inspire others to take action as well.

When asked about the campaign, Baker mentioned, “In a time when life feels strained, the outdoors feels like hope to me, and I wanted to share that with others. So, I envisioned bringing people together and inviting them to join with complete strangers across the country in solidarity, purpose, and commitment. #RunHikeBike has no borders, no pressure. This is it; let’s embrace the serenity of nature and encourage others to do the same.”

The Instagram-driven campaign will be tracked through the hashtag #RunHikeBike2022. Participants are encouraged to post a pledge of how they plan to get outside, and then follow up with a post capturing that activity. By tagging #RunHikeBike2022 in their posts (along with tagging any campaign partners, see below), participants may be featured across partner channels and celebrated for their support of the campaign. In addition to accolades and visibility, posts with the tag #RunHikeBike2022 will automatically be entered to win a grand prize of outdoor gear from participating partners.
