Virginia Lakes Lakes Canyon Trail

The Virginia Lakes Canyon Trail is a one of the regions favorites for Summer and Fall hiking. The Trail starts at 9’500 feet and climbs to 11’000 feet if you travel all the way to Summit Lake and the boundaries of Yosemite National Park. Features Blue Lake, Cooney Lake and Frog Lakes on the way up as well as old relic cabin. Tremendous views the entire trip. Make this a Backpacking trip and leave a second car at green Lake trail and loop over to East lake and Green lake for a great weekend adventure.

Green Lakes Canyon Trail

A beautiful scenic day hike which can include a couple lakes depending on your willingness to continue climbing. 5 mile round trip if you just go to Green lake. Enjoy the aspens in the fall and add East or West lake to your day trip if you want a little more in your trip. Backpackers often drop a car at Virginia Lakes and use route as a through hike up past East lake to Summit lake and down Virginia Lakes canyon.

Robinson Creek to Barney Lake Trail

Twin Lakes visitors are familiar with this trial. This 7.8 round trip hike is moderately strenuous. The Picturesque Barney Lake sits in the shadow of 11,346-foot Crown Point in the Hoover Wilderness. Often a launching point into a Northern Yosemite Loop there is no camping with in a 1/4 mile of Barney Lake. this is the busiest trail in the bridgeport region during summer season.

Burt Canyon to Anna Lake Trail

Looking for seclusion and ready for strenuous day hike. Anna Lake is a great reward as you traverse 7.5 miles from trailhead up Burt canyon or Molybdenite canyons to the lake. 2500 ft elevation gain. Expect to climb over trees, forge streams and even do some route finding, this place doesn’t get a lot of visitors and the trail may not be well maintained. This is actually the only trail I have seen warning about Rattle snakes as well from hikers.

Tamarack Lake trail– Tamarack Lake Trail is a strenuous and scenic day-long hike. Start at 7,100 feet at Lower Twin Lake and gain 2,600 feet in four miles (one way). The trail is mostly sun-exposed and ends at Tamarack Lake, which is filled with Golden Trout. Anticipate great views of the Bridgeport Valley.

Lane Lake – West Walker trail

West Walker trail – the easiest tof the local trails on this list. Located on HWY 108 towards Sonora Pass at Levitt Meadows the West walker river trail gives hikers and fishers access to multiple lakes: Poore, secret, Roosevelt and Lane Lake. Trips can vary in length based on which lakes you visit. Loop trail available for Poore and Secret lake combo. This is a popular hiking destination for anglers. Shout out to Local Favorite Guide Leavitt meadow Pack station here. great way to experience this area is by horseback.
