Vogelsang Lake and Views From Vogelsang Pass Yosemite National Park

Vogelsang Lake and Vogelsang Pass are iconic locations in the Yosemite backcountry. Known for its incredible views from Vogelsang pass of the Clark range and other high country lakes visitors to the Vogelsang area are driven to climb the added 540′ feet out of Vogelsang high camp to the pass and along the way enjoying the Vogelsang lake and surrounding landscapes.

Vogelsang Lake is Located approx 7 miles out of Tuolumne Meadows on the rafferty creek trailhead and sits at 10,324′.
Vogelsang Pass is is a short approx 1 mile climb up from the lake to an elevation 10,670′.

The short climb out of Vogelsang camp upto Vogelsang lake includes a great vista view of Emeric lake to the West, with clouds rest and half dome in the horizon.

Vogelsang Lake like some many Yosemite lakes includes crystal clear waters lined by meadow grasses that beg for you to put your fee tin the cold water and layback and enjoy the wilderness for a bit. Limited shade options on the lake expose you to the sun at high altitude so bring the sun screen.

The climb up to the pass is relatively moderate trail besides the elevation that makes everything a bit harder. A few sections of steep climb with loose rocks but mostly a solid surface with no too many trip hazards on your way up the pass. Remember to stop and look behind as you climb because the view continue to get better as you go.

Cresting the pass is spectacular as you are blessed with one of the finest views in the Park of the Clark range and you get a glimpse of Glacial lakes including Gallison Lake, Bernice Lake with Lewis Creek flowing deep in canyon below. The panoramic view of Parsons Peak, Simmons Peak, Mt Maclure and Mt Florence (going east to West)

Travelers can continue down Vogelsang pass into the Lewis Creek basin and find routes to May lake, or go off trail to Bernice or Gallison Lakes. they also can loop back around Vogelsang peak to Emeric lake and back to camp on a 12 mile loop with plenty of elevation change.
