Presidents Day Weekend in the Sierra – What to do?

Time to play in the Mountains?

February 19, 2017 –  What to do over a three-day weekend in the Sierra? Ok I know, dumb question, most will grab their ski’s pray for clear weather and drop in on some great new powder on the various slopes. That is always the right call.
However, there are always events happening in the Sierra and this weekend in no exception.
Here is a short list of events that are happening in the Sierra this weekend you may want to check out.
Free Entrance Day in our National Parks Monday – Yosemite, Lassen, Sequoia National Parks will all have free entry fees for the parks Monday.  Yosemite has the Fire Fall occurring this week, so if you happen to catch a clear sky on Saturday, Sunday or Monday it is a great time to go explore Yosemite and see one of the great natural wonders of this world.   Lassen and Sequoia National Parks also have guided Snowshoe tours on Saturday.

  • Animal Ark in Reno is inviting families out this weekend to see Animals in the Winter elements, Cougars, Cheetahs, Bobcats and More this weekend.
  • Photo Safari to Animal Ark

But probably the biggest area of event activity int he Sierra will be up in North Tahoe. Alpenglow Sports Festival kicks off with a laundry list of events to participate in. Snowshoeing, cross country skiing, Races, Gear Showcase, backcountry events etc…  Check out the activity here:

Enjoy your weekend in the Sierra. Check roads before you head out nad always go prepared.
