TWO ICONIC SPRING SKIING CAPITAL EVENTS RESCHEDULED TO CELEBRATE EXTENDED SEASON AT SQUAW VALLEY | ALPINE MEADOWS

[Olympic Valley, Calif.] April 8, 2016 – To celebrate the longest ski season in ten years, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows has moved two hallmark spring events, Snow Golf at Alpine Meadows and the Cushing Crossing pond skimming competition at Squaw Valley, to fall later in the season. The 33rd Annual Snow Golf Tournament at Alpine Meadows will take place on Saturday, April 16, with a grand prize of roundtrip airfare for two on Alaska Airlines. The 26th Annual Cushing Crossing pond skimming contest at Squaw Valley will take place on Saturday, April 23 at Squaw Valley, with prizes including roundtrip airfare for two on Alaska Airlines, a 2016-17 Bronze Tahoe Super Pass and cash prizes.
The updated calendar follows the resort’s announcement that it will host the longest ski season in the Tahoe region, with skiing and riding through Memorial Day on May 30, conditions and weather permitting. With over 38 feet of cumulative snowfall this season and a 12-foot base, the resort is offering free skiing and riding for 2016-17 Tahoe Super Passholders through the end of May. Operations will continue seven days a week through the spring at Squaw Valley and/or Alpine Meadows through Monday, May 30, conditions permitting.

33rd Annual Snow Golf Tournament – Saturday, April 16 at Alpine Meadows
As the only top-to-bottom snow golf course, the 33rd Annual Snow Golf Tournament is a unique way for the family to spend a day on the slopes. Teeing off at 9 a.m., the nine-hole course starts at the top of Summit Express Chair, with the last hole leaving golfers at the base of Alpine Bowl Chair. The grand prize is roundtrip airfare for two on Alaska Airlines, and golfers and spectators can join the After Party to take part in a Costume Contest and enter to win fun prizes at the Main Lodge Sun Deck. Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival – Saturday, April 16 at The Village at Squaw Valley®
One of the largest Earth Day celebrations in the region, this free community event takes place at the Village at Squaw Valley from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and gives kids and adults the opportunity to learn about recycling, composting, alternative energy, and sustainability through hands-on activities the whole family can enjoy. 26th Annual Cushing Crossing – Saturday, April 23
Sponsored by Alaska Airlines, GoPro and KTKE 101.5 Truckee Tahoe Radio, the iconic pond skimming event returns to the resort for its 26th consecutive year, challenging participants to cross the chilly waters of Cushing Pond on skis, a snowboard, or any ski- or snowboard-based vessel – resulting in colossal crashes, ultra-creative contraptions and hilarious costumes, with the spectacle being judge by a celebrity panel. This year’s Cushing Crossing starts at 1:00 p.m. at Cushing Pond, located adjacent to the KT Base Bar. The legendary competition will be limited to the first 50 registrants, and participants can register on the day of the event at KT Base Bar. Registration opens at 9 a.m., and is $20 per competitor, with prizes including roundtrip airfare for two on Alaska Airlines, a 2016-17 Bronze Tahoe Super Pass and cash prizes. Cinco de Mayo Party at High Camp – Thursday, May 5 at Squaw Valley
Celebrate skiing and riding in May at a unique Cinco de Mayo party at 8,200 feet. Cinco de Mayo specials include ice cold margaritas, Mexican themed food specials and live music at the High Camp Hot Tub.
