Forest Service to host open houses on Winter Travel Management
South Lake Tahoe, Calif. – The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) will hold three informational open houses to provide the public and interested stakeholders the opportunity to provide preliminary feedback on the upcoming Winter Travel Management process.
The South Shore open house will take place on March 29, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Forest Supervisor’s Office, 35 College Drive in South Lake Tahoe. The Kings Beach open house will take place on April 5, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Blvd. A third open house will be held in Sparks, Nevada, onApril 19, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Humboldt-Toiyabe Forest Supervisor’s Office, 1200 Franklin Way. There will be no formal presentation. Forest Service staff members will be available to provide background information and answer questions.
For decades, the LTBMU has designated over-snow vehicle (OSV) use through a series of Forest Orders and the publication of the LTBMU’s Snowmobile Guide, which can be found at http://www.fs.usda.gov/goto/ltbmu/SnowmobileGuide. The Winter Travel Management Plan will update the current Snowmobile Guide and take a comprehensive look at access, parking, and motorized and non-motorized winter recreation.
