SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – March 24, 2019—Celebrating 25 years of award-winning terrain parks, Sierra-at-Tahoe is proud to announce the launch of the Sierra Playgrounds. A collection of eight terrain parks spanning across Sierra’s 2,000 skiable acres and including the only halfpipe in South Lake Tahoe, the Playgrounds are a place for everyone to progress, have fun and celebrate the shared love of skiing and riding.
Since their inception in 1993, terrain parks at Sierra have been at the helm of innovation, consistently setting trends in the industry while creating features for skiers and riders of all levels to enjoy. From the legendary Sierra Circuit—which connected the entire mountain from top to bottom via rails, hips, jumps and more—to the Burton Riglet Park—the first park of its kind in the West with progression-minded rollers, drop-ins and ride-on features to help children learn faster—Sierra has longtime been a gathering place for playfully-minded riders. Our parks are home to legends like Olympic Gold Medalists Maddie Bowman, Hannah Teter and Jamie Anderson, as well as the Sierra Competition Teams with kids competing nationally from ages as young as three. Sierra is committed to continuing its legacy of progressive and boundary-pushing parks with the launch of the Playgrounds.

“The goal of the Sierra Playgrounds is to create a welcoming space where everybody can come to have fun, challenge themselves, and learn something new,” says Terrain Park Supervisor Tyson Terpening. “Our terrain parks truly are a playground of sorts where we aim to keep that fun vibe alive, whether you’re a parent riding alongside your groms on our sculpted terrain on Broadway or a pro boosting a hip in The Alley.”
Launch Party March 31
On Sunday, March 31, join the Sierra family for the official Sierra Playgrounds launch party, taking place in The Alley terrain park from 10AM-2PM.
