Tioga Pass

Tioga Pass Highway 120

Highway 120 over Tioga Pass is the Most direct Scenic route from the Eastern Sierra into Yosemite national Park. From the East it travels up out of Lee Vining and the Mono Lake Basin up through a pass that separate’s Hoover Wilderness on the North, Ansel Adams Wilderness on the South before dropping into Yosemite national Park at the crest of the Sierra.

The route Travels through some of the most scenic locations in Yosemite National park including Tuolumne Meadows, the Cathedral Range, Tenaya Lake, Olmsted Point, Wolf creek, May Lake access, North Dome access be fore eventually connecting to the outlet to the North of the park which features access to Hetch Hetchy. This route is generally open in Late May – Early November but is weather dependent.

Sonora Pass Highway 108

Sonora Pass Is the first pass North of Yosemite Park that crosses the Sierra. This scenic and steep pass features a stunning diverse landscape with hairpin turns, scenic vistas and steep slopes that keep the driver on their toes. However Taking Sonora pass in the summer and fall seasons provides access to incredible adventure terrain, historic towns and great opportunities of solitude and back country access.

Sonora Pass, Starts on the east side of the Sierra off Highway 395 between the towns of Walker Ca. and Bridgeport Ca. traveling by Leavitt’s Meadow and splitting access to the Hoover Wilderness to the South Eastern side of the range and the Carson iceberg Wilderness on the North Eastern side. then transitioning to a split of the Emigrant Wilderness on the South western side of the range.

Ebbetts Pass – Scenic Route Hwy 4

Ebbetts Pass is another one of our Seasonal summer and fall routes over the Sierra and might be considered one of the most Scenic routes with a bit of nerve shattering drive time included in your adventure. Traveling between the Towns of Markleeville ca on the East and Murphy’s Ca on the West Highway 4 (Ebbett’s Pass is a tight, steep and squirrely drive up into the heart of the Central Sierra. Alpine Lakes, reservoirs, lush old growth forest and stunning vista views of the Sierra range are easily accessed on the roadside.

This popular backcountry region provides access to the Carson Iceberg Wilderness, Mokelumne Wilderness, the PCT, and numerous Free and Paid Campgrounds options, plus some of the Sierras most sought after fishing streams and easy to access fishing lakes.
