Preserving the Sierra Nevada One Step at a Time
For over 30 years, the Sierra Nevada Alliance has been at the forefront of protecting and conserving the majestic Sierra Nevada region. Now, through an inspiring collaboration with Pacific Crest Trail hiker and filmmaker Riordan Cicciu, the Alliance is reaching new heights of awareness and support. Their latest project, Project PCT, combines adventure, storytelling, and purpose in a way that resonates deeply with outdoor enthusiasts and conservation advocates alike.
The Story Behind Project PCT
In 2024, Florida native and PCT hiker Riordan Cicciu set out on a journey with dual goals: to complete the iconic Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and to give back to the breathtaking landscapes that made his trek unforgettable. Partnering with the Sierra Nevada Alliance (SNA), Cicciu founded Alchemy Lab, a creative fundraising initiative dedicated to raising awareness for environmental causes through powerful storytelling and outdoor experiences.
Over the course of his hike, Cicciu documented his journey and the vital importance of preserving the Sierra Nevada. Through blog posts, social media updates, and an ongoing GoFundMe campaign, Project PCT gained momentum, culminating in the creation of a stunning 30-minute short film. To date, this collaborative effort has raised over $4,000 for Sierra Nevada conservation programs, with a larger goal of $10,000.
“This has been the most fulfilling project I’ve had the fortune to work on,” Cicciu shared. “I have so much gratitude for the Sierra Nevada Alliance and the work that they do. Thank you to everyone who followed along or contributed to this project along the way!”
