Explore 25 Editions of Sierra Rec Magazine
A decade of Sierra stories, trail guides, and gear—captured one season at a time.
Why This Collection Matters
From the scope of the Sierra, this magazine—and the stories we’ve told over the years—are still just scratching the surface.
Sierra Rec Magazine started with a simple idea: to help people discover more of the Sierra around them. Not just the well-known destinations, but the quieter places, the overlooked trails, and the experiences that stay with you long after the trip is over.
Along the way, I’ve let my feet and my curiosity lead the way—into some truly special places. It’s been an absolute privilege to bring our readers, friends, and new explorers along for that journey.
The Sierra changed my life. That’s not something I say lightly. And through the years, hearing from readers who’ve found their own connection to these mountains—whether it’s a first backpacking trip, a family hike, or a return to a place they hadn’t thought about in years—that’s what has made this worth continuing.
From the first issue, where I had no real design experience, to the most recent editions where I’m still learning how to build something better each season, this has always been a passion project.
And in many ways, it still is.
