Yosemite will Temporarily Close Tioga Pass at 6pm today in preparation of early season storm
Yosemite National Park – October 25, 2023 – Each year we await the news that Tioga Pass, the only Eastern entrance into Yosemite National Park will close for the winter. With mixed emotions most are praying for snow and winter recreation while still hoping to make one final trip into the beloved backcountry entrance of Americas favorite national Park.
Today Yosemite followed suit with most Sierra Scenic passes and made plans to close the gates at Tioga pass because a winter storm that is approaching that is promising to deliver 1-3 inches of snow in the higher elevations. Tioga Pass Sonora, Ebbett’s passes all have plans for closing today at 6pm.
Temporary closures do not necessarily mean permanent seasonal closures, depending on weather patterns and length of snow staying on the roads the park and passes all could re-open for a late fall recreation opportunity with in a few days.
