Weeklong family-friendly festival offers activities for kids of all ages with new events like Ice Carving Demonstrations, Dress Up Day and Minute-to-Win-It Games
Olympic Valley, Calif., February 13, 2019—Families visiting Tahoe this week are in for a treat, with the return of the 10th annual Kid-O-Rama Festival to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. From Feb. 16-23, this weeklong, kid-focused, family fun event will feature live music, complimentary treats, a daily game and craft room and more. A special ice carving performance and a Minute-to-Win-It Games showdown will make their Kid-O-Rama debut this year, while favorites like Disco Tubing, Après S’mores Party and Big Truck Day return. NEW Ice Carving Demonstrations
Feb. 19 & 20
Local artisan Paul Buelna will be doing live ice carving demonstrations in the Village Plaza throughout the day on Feb. 19 and 20. His creations will pay homage to the Chinese New Year and the ushering in of the Year of the Pig.
NEW Dress Up Day
Feb. 23
Show off your style on the slopes! Kids are encouraged to wear their favorite costume, the crazier the better!

NEW Minute-to-Win-It Carnival Games
Feb. 19, 2-4 p.m.
Put the pedal to the metal with this fast-paced competition. During the Minute-to-Win-It Carnival Games at Alpine Meadows, kids can try their luck at various games like ring toss, mini bowling, hula hoops, giant Jenga, Connect Four and mini basketball.

Disco Tubing
Feb. 16, 17 & 22, 5-8 p.m.
The SnoVentures Activity Zone comes alive at night with Disco Tubing for the whole family. Families can spin, slide and speed down the snow tubing lanes to vibrant DJ tunes as the night is illuminated with colorful lights and lasers splashed on the mountainside.
Kids Après S’mores Party
Feb. 19, 4:15-6 p.m. at Alpine Meadows Base Area
Feb. 21, 4:15-6 p.m. at KT Base Bar, Squaw Valley
Après is for the kids too! During the Kid’s Après S’mores Party, kids can roast marshmallows around wood fire pits while parents enjoy their own après beverage on the deck.
Fireworks Show
February 16 & 23 at 5:30 p.m.
Join us on the KT Deck on Feb. 16 and 23 for a fireworks show that will light up the night sky. Grab some food or drinks inside the Plaza Bar, which has a perfect view of the show.
Big Truck Day
Feb. 18 at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows
It takes a lot of machinery to get the ski resort running, and on Big Truck Day kids and families can get an up-close look at snow groomers, snowmobiles and even firetrucks. At Squaw Valley, local Truckee hat company Big Truck will be hosting a “Sew on Site” custom hat bar, where guests can choose threads and patches to create one-of-a-kind hats right on the spot.
SAF Peak2Peak Family Fun Race
Feb. 20
Family members can team up to go for the gold in this fun, head-to-head dual slalom race on the NASTAR course. In its third year, the Peak2Peak Family Fun Race benefits the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows Foundation, which provides scholarships to young snowsports athletes.
Kid’s Crafts and Game Room
Feb. 16-23, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Kid’s Game and Craft Room is the perfect place for children to get creative, try new crafts, play games and make new friends. Ski-themed and family-friendly movies for all ages are shown each day with free popcorn! The Kids Game and Craft Room is located in the Palisades Room just across from the main lobby and Village Front Desk, and is $10 per child or free if you’re staying at The Village at Squaw Valley.
Winter Music Series
Feb. 16-17 & 22-23, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows
Kick back and relax after a long day on the slopes with free live music from Lake Tahoe’s favorite musicians. Performances take place in the afternoon at three different locations: the Village Plaza and the KT Deck at Squaw Valley, and at the Alpine Bar at Alpine Meadows.
