The skies above Carson Valley are world-renowned for a reason, and this August, you’re invited to experience them up close as the 2025 Airport Discovery Day: Wings & Wheels returns to Minden-Tahoe Airport for a day of family-friendly adventure, discovery, and community celebration.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1146 Airport Rd, Minden, NV. Admission is free for all ages.

This event is a local favorite, blending the thrill of aviation with classic car culture, live demonstrations, and an undeniable sense of small-town pride. Start your morning with a complimentary pancake breakfast before diving into a day filled with:

• Static aircraft displays where you can meet local pilots and explore planes up close.
• A classic and modern car show hosted by the Douglas Dukes, showcasing everything from vintage gems to modern speedsters.
• Air performances including daring stunts by RenegadeAV8R and a flyby of the Self-Launching Jet Arcus Glider.
• Skydiving demonstration by Skydive Lake Tahoe and helicopter water drop demos by the Nevada Division of Forestry.
• Free rides for veterans in historic T6s and Stearmans with Legacy Airbase, honoring those who served.
• Kids’ Corner with aviation-themed activities, bounce houses, and a visit from Smokey Bear.
• Live music by The Scarlet Verbs, local food trucks, and community vendors.

Whether you’re a pilot, an aviation enthusiast, or simply looking for a fun family day, this open house is your chance to celebrate National Aviation Week in the heart of the Sierra skies.

Minden-Tahoe Airport Manager Heather MacDonnell shared, “It’s a celebration of aviation, our veterans, and the incredible community that supports us. We’re proud to offer this free, family-oriented event once again.”
