You know that mid-afternoon desk moment when your energy crashes and your mind starts wandering to the mountains? Yeah, that happened to me today—post-Spring magazine launch, mid-dual-drum brain fog—and I remembered I had a little something new to try sitting right here on my desk.
Canyon Crack Trail Butter.
I stumbled across this gem thanks to a fun blog post by Ali Becker on Garage Grown Gear (which, by the way, is quickly becoming my go-to gear rabbit hole for outdoor everything). And let me tell you—one bite of this trail butter and I was ready to throw my laptop in a pack and bolt for the nearest trailhead.
This isn’t your average nut butter. Made with cookie butter, coconut butter, peanut butter, and dark chocolate, the “Dark Chocolate Oreo Treat” flavor is dangerously delicious. Like, “wait, was this made for the trail or dessert?” kind of delicious. It’s sweet, smooth, and just a little crunchy, with a flavor that hits you right in the adventure cravings.

And the packaging? Hilarious. Stamped proudly with “Made with Grass-Fed, Free-Range Cookies”—I mean, how do you not love that?
Now, is it meant to be a desk snack? Probably not. I’m currently buzzing with the energy of someone who should be ten miles into the backcountry, not ten feet from the office coffee pot. But with 183 calories per packet—48% fat for endurance, 10% protein for strength, and 42% carbs for quick fuel—it’s clearly designed for big adventure days, not your inbox backlog.
Safe to say this stuff’s going in my summer hiking and backpacking kit. Whether you need a mid-climb morale boost, an all-day trail snack, or just a sweet little trail-treat to reward yourself after a hard summit, Canyon Crack delivers.
You can snag it at Garage Grown Gear—one of my favorite small-shop marketplaces—or direct from the source at CanyonCrack.com.
Just a warning: once you try it, you might find yourself planning a hike just for an excuse to eat more.
