Lake Margaret holds a special place in Sierra Rec’s history. This is where our journey truly began—when a planned group outing led to a serendipitous encounter with my longtime hiking partner, Tom. What started as a solo hike to the lake turned into an unforgettable friendship, sparked during a quiet moment by the water’s edge.

Trail Accessibility:
For guests staying at Kirkwood during the summer, this trail is incredibly convenient. The trailhead is less than half a mile from the Kirkwood entrance, making it an easy addition to your alpine getaway. If the main parking area is full, additional parking is available nearby at the Caples Lake Dam and the Emigrant Lake trailhead, just up the road.
