Incline Village Tahoe, NV – December 1. 2022 – Thankful for a cold November and supported by the Early December Storm hitting Lake Tahoe Today and this weekend. Diamond Peak ski resort in incline Village will open for skiing Saturday December 3rd.
With 1,840 vertical feet of skiable terrain packed into 655 acres just a mile from Lake Tahoe, Diamond Peak offers the 4th most skiable vertical in the Tahoe Basin (according to the independent website mountainvertical.com). Add in panoramic Tahoe views from nearly every run on the mountain, incredible glades for tree skiing/riding, and Tahoe’s most progressive terrain park (The Village), and it’s no wonder locals know Diamond Peak to be Tahoe’s “hidden gem.”
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and that you’re as excited for the upcoming ski season as we are. We are truly thankful for the consistent cold temperatures we have had this month and are excited to announce that Diamond Peak will be opening early for the 2022-23 season on Saturday, December 3rd!
We expect to open with top-to-bottom terrain and all services including rentals, limited lessons, and food and beverage options at Base Lodge Provisions and the Loft Bar. Terrain is still being assessed so plan on checking the Conditions Report that morning to see what will be open.

Whats New in 22-23 Ski Season
Relocation of Village Terrain Park: The medium- and large-sized features in Diamond Peak’s Village Terrain Park (VTP) are moving for the 2022-23 ski season to the Spillway run, opening up the ski runs known as Penguin and Dusty’s for traditional groomed skiing and riding this winter. Smaller VTP jumps and features will still be located near the bottom of the Wiggle run (in the same zone they were located last season), while the Jump Start Park for first-time terrain park users will also remain in the same location as last season – the bottom of Popular trail.
The Spillway location for the VTP’s medium and large features is actually a return to the terrain park’s location prior to the 2018-19 ski season, so the park crew is very familiar with the potential for this location. With its wide open layout and consistent grade, Spillway allows the park crew to build features that flow smoothly from one to the next, ensuring riders have just the right amount of speed to hit each feature in the park.
Skiers and riders looking for additional groomed options on the lower mountain will be excited to explore the Penguin and Dusty’s groomers, accessible via the Lakeview Quad, Red Fox double, and Crystal Express chairs.
New surface lift for Child Ski & Ride Center: Parents of Diamond Peak’s youngest skiers and riders will be happy to see a brand-new magic carpet style surface lift in the dedicated learning zone that is exclusive to kids ages 3 to 6 enrolled in Child Ski & Ride Center lesson programs. As one of Diamond Peak’s signature lesson programs, the Child Ski & Ride Center has a dedicated learning area that offers the perfect gentle slope for children just learning how to use their equipment, stop, and make their first turns; and the new surface lift will make that process more efficient and reliable for years to come.
Newly named glade zones: Diamond Peak’s gladed tree skiing zones are the place to be on storm days. This advanced terrain is a playground for experts filled with natural obstacles like pillows, rock drops and more. Diamond Peak offers 655 skiable acres, and almost 500 acres of that is gladed tree runs. Thanks to a partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, local fire crews and our summer maintenance staff, the resort has cleared out many of the smaller trees and brush in these zones, making them healthier forests, less prone to wildfire, and as an added bonus, incredibly fun for skiers and riders.
Guided after-hours snowshoe hikes: Join guides from the Incline Village Parks & Recreation Department for Community After-Hours Snowshoe Hikes to Diamond Peak’s Snowflake Lodge. The snowshoe hikes offer non-skiers the chance to enjoy the slopes of Diamond Peak in wintertime and encourage exercising in a social setting. The 1.5-mile (3 miles round trip) hikes includes guides, exclusive after-hours access to Diamond Peak and Snowflake Lodge, s’mores and hot cocoa. There will also be light fare available for purchase at Snowflake Lodge. See DiamondPeak.com/events for reservations and more information.
