The Historic Longboard Racing Revival Series takes place at noon on every third Sunday of January, February, and March.
Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl, Ca- January 8, 2023 – The history of skiing is celebrated this week as the Historic Longboard Races of the Johnsville Ski bowl makes its official return in what will be the first of three race weekends this winter in the Sierra. Saturday January 14th 10am -4:00 pm.
The Johnsville Longboard ski races are held at the Johnsville Ski Bowl, a small ski area located in Johnsville, California. The races were held in the late 1940s and early 1950s and were known for their long downhill runs and high speeds. The Now closed Johnsville ski bowl is located on the flanks of the Sierra Nevada mountain range next to the Plumas-Eureka State Park.
The races now run by the Plumas Ski Club’s. The Plumas Ski Club’s purpose is to promote community skiing activities through historical re-enactments of 1860’s era ski racing in the Lost Sierra. Our primary mission is to raise funds, by sponsoring community events, for the continued maintenance and eventual re-opening of the Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl.
