Lake Tahoe CA, November 10- 2022 – The latest winter storm dropped up to 4 feet of snow on local Lake Tahoe ski resorts in the Sierra. Creating opportunity for the major ski resorts to open early in Lake Tahoe region. Today NorthStar, Heavenly and Kirkwood, all Vail resorts in Lake Tahoe announced they would open this Saturday for skiing and snowboarding.
NorthStar and Kirkwood will both celebrate 50th seasons. NorthStar will open this season with 41 inch base that has fallen in the past month. Kirkwood which received 35″ in this recent storm will also open with a 42″ base from the season so far. The three resorts will join Mt. Rose and Boreal Ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe region opening this weekend for skiers.

There is a lot to celebrate this winter at our Tahoe resorts: the 2022-2023 ski and ride season marks the 50th anniversary of operations at both Kirkwood and NorthStar; and Heavenly and NorthStar will open their newly upgraded lifts to guests after a busy summer of construction. Heavenly is upgrading its North Bowl lift to a high-speed four-person chair and NorthStar is upgrading the Comstock Express to a high-speed six-person chair.
