Kaiser Pass Road to VVR will open to the public June 1st 2020

Sierra Rec Magazine – May 2020 – Feeling safe to get out in explore in 2020? Camping and Accomindations:

Campgrounds around Mono and Edison Lake are open for campers once Kaiser Pass Road opens for the season. Spaces are available on a first come first serve basis with limited services (camp host, water etc.) until early June when the reservation system kicks in and camp hosts arrive. If you need water you can go to either Mono Hot Springs Resort or the Vermilion Valley Resort on Lake Edison. The resort offers RV Camping, Cabins and yurt facilities as well, plus they have become known as a hiker haven for PCT and JMT hikers, and provide hikers two night free tent camping. The resort also offers a ferry service across the lake and onsite restaurant (Which will have Covid 19 restrictions this year) and a general supply store. Vermilion Valley Resort For Sale

Operating on the final two years of their current forest service lease the family at Vermilion Valley Resort are looking for the next owners of the the facilities and all recreations supplies.

Developed on seven and one-half acres at an elevation of 7,700 feet, the resort is operated under a Special Use Permit issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service. The current 20-year permit was originally issued to the existing owner in 2002. Note: The seller is selling the personal property and all the business holdings which are located on U.S.F.S. land, This includes all buildings, boats, trucks, autos, equipment, inventory and other assets and improvements. Any buyer must be approved by the U.S.F.S. in order to obtain a new 20-year permit. It is recommended that any expansion plan be incorporated into this new permit.

The typical season is May through October, depending on snow conditions and weather. Winter and early season Green Sticker Snowmobile and Quad/ATV fishing trips, accessing the region while the road is closed to the general automobile driving public, was approved in 2004. Winter Snowmobile trips start in January and early season ATV fishing trips typically start in mid-April.
