South Lake Tahoe, CA – If you love birds, nature walks, and hands-on outdoor fun, don’t miss the Wild Tahoe Festival, happening Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Taylor Creek Visitor Center, just off Highway 89 north of South Lake Tahoe.

This free, one-day event brings together two beloved gatherings—the Lake Tahoe Bird Festival and the Native Species Festival—into one unforgettable outdoor celebration. It’s a chance to explore Tahoe’s ecosystems, meet the wildlife that call the region home, and get inspired by the local groups working to protect them.

A Day of Outdoor Exploration

Whether you’re a lifelong birder or simply enjoy a walk in the woods, the Wild Tahoe Festival offers a variety of activities for all ages:

  • Guided bird and nature walks along the Rainbow Trail (offered hourly)
  • Live birds of prey and a falconry demonstration
  • Nature-themed crafts and educational games for kids
  • Interactive booths and talks from wildlife experts and land stewards
Join Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, Great Basin Institute and the USDA Forest Service for Wild Tahoe Weekend, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Taylor Creek Visitor Center.

Participating partners include the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, Great Basin Institute, Lahontan Audubon Society, Tahoe Interagency Bear Team, and the USDA Forest Service, among others. Their goal? To foster curiosity and stewardship through hands-on learning and meaningful connection to Tahoe’s natural world.
