Yosemite Announces the Opening of Tioga Pass 2024 – June 10th.
Get ready to dust off your hiking boots and stock up on bug spray, Sierra Nevada adventurers, because HEAVEN OPENS on MONDAY, JUNE 10th! That’s right, folks, Yosemite National Park is THRILLED to announce the official HIGH COUNTRY SEASON KICKOFF with the reopening of the one and only TUOLUMNE MEADOWS and Tioga Pass entrance!
We’re talking epic landscapes, crystal clear mountain air, and enough hiking trails to make your legs sing (and maybe cry a little, but that’s just the scenery talking). But wait, there’s more! We’ve also got all the info you need to make your Tuolumne Meadows adventure the perfect blend of epic adventure and smooth sailing. Let’s dive in!
First Things First: Be Prepared
Now, hold your horses (or should we say, crampons?) This pristine wilderness isn’t quite ready to be a five-star resort just yet. There’s NO FOOD SERVICE or GAS STATIONS available, and those CAMPGROUNDS are not expected to open in Tuolumne this season. So pack plenty of snacks, fill up your tank before you hit the park entrance, and be prepared to rough it (in the best way possible, of course).

Reservations
By now you know that there is no Free Pass this summer in Yosemite. Yosemite’s gonna be poppin’ this summer, so you’ll need a RESERVATION to DRIVE THROUGH THE PARK on weekends, Juneteenth (June 20th), all of July and August, and then again on weekends and holidays through October 27th. Don’t get caught scrambling for a signal at the gate – plan ahead and snag that reservation!
Welcome Back, Wildlife!
Remember those adorable bears, deer, and marmots we all fawn over? Well, they’ve been enjoying a bit of a staycation lately. To keep the peace and avoid any unwanted critter encounters, drive the speed limit and keep your eyes peeled for our furry (and feathery) friends who might be taking their sweet time on the road.
Mosquitoes? More Like Mos-NO-way
Okay, so maybe the wildlife is cute, but the mosquitoes? Not so much. Those pesky bloodsuckers will be itching to greet you (pun intended), so pack long sleeves and pants if you’re prone to becoming their buffet.

Snow and Water on the Trails
Just a heads up – you might encounter some snow and lots of water on the trails. Remember, these delicate ecosystems need our love and respect. Stick to the designated trails to avoid any unwanted damage. Boots are meant to get muddy, stay on trail and enjoy the experience. Tuolumne needs your help to stay pristine.
A Huge Thank You!
Before you race out the door with your backpack strapped on, we at Sierra Rec want to take a moment to give a massive shoutout to the incredible Yosemite National Park Crews and CalTrans Drivers who’ve been working tirelessly to get Tioga Road and Tuolumne Meadows spick and span for our arrival. Seriously, you guys are the real MVPs!
