What to know and why you should get married here

So you want to have a destination summer wedding in the Great Northern Nevada? What’s not to love about the beautiful blue waters of Lake Tahoe and the majestic Sierra Nevada range? Really, Northern Nevada is a great location for your summer wedding but there are some key things to know when looking to book your wedding here!

  1. Book in advance! I know it may sound crazy but really, things book up really quickly. This means you will want to book your venue and vendors at least a year in advance.
  2. Plan for a later afternoon/evening wedding. It can get hot in the summers so knowing you will most likely be outdoors, anything later in the day is really your best bet. (Usually, your planner and photographer can help you set a time but looking at a sunset calendar would be helpful to schedule your ceremony time).
  3. Have a backup indoor location. I know this is probably not what you want to hear. But summer in northern Nevada means forest fires and forest fires means smoke. Since we are in a little valley, the smoke gets trapped. This can make it hard to be outdoors for your entire wedding so having a backup plan to be inside is well worth it and will cause way less stress for you!

Now I know those three things may make it seem like having a Northern Nevada Wedding might not be worth it. BUT if you love the outdoors, you cannot beat what Northern Nevada has to offer.

Destination, Destination, Destination

Because it is a destination wedding area, we have some of the best vendors around. You are sure to find a photographer that matches your style. All the planners in the area love what they do and will work hard to make your day special. Most venues in the area have the best views so you really won’t go wrong.

And if all that wasn’t enough, you basically have a wedding and honeymoon in one destination! If you love the outdoors, extending your time here to include your honeymoon is so worth it. Since you’re so close to Tahoe, you have some amazing hiking trails and the beach. With Reno right next door, you also have some amazing hotel spas to relax. Down the hill, there is the Carson Valley which is home to Genoa and some of the best views of the Sierra Nevada Range.

A Northern Nevada Wedding is sure to be an adventure and no doubt a great start to a happy life together!
