But Tahoe’s 35th Annual American Century Championship Plays on Regardless
Calling all Sierra Recreation enthusiasts! Mark your calendars, because the 35th annual American Century Championship is gearing up for another action-packed weekend at Edgewood Tahoe, July 12th-14th. While there’s a bittersweet change to the lineup this year, Tahoe’s signature summer event promises the same star power, stunning scenery, and charitable impact that keeps us coming back year after year.

Local favorite Steph Curry, who delivered an electrifying performance to clinch the 2023 title, will be absent this year, prioritizing his chance to compete for Olympic gold with Team USA in Paris. Disappointed? Sure, but as Steph himself says, “representing our country at the Olympics is an opportunity I simply could not pass up.”
Here’s the silver lining: While Steph might be on the hardwood this July, there’s no shortage of star power filling the green at Edgewood Tahoe. We’re talking Hall of Famers, All-Pros, and A-listers like Charles Barkley, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Miles Teller, Ray Romano, and many more. Remember those epic battles between Romo and Mulder? Get ready for a new chapter in their friendly rivalry, along with competition from a stacked field vying for the coveted championship trophy and a cool $150,000 grand prize.
Beyond the world-class competition, the American Century Championship is all about the Tahoe experience. Imagine this: basking in the summer sun, catching breathtaking lakeside views between rounds, and witnessing good-natured banter between players and the crowd. The iconic 17th hole with spectator boats lining the fairway? That’s still happening, and you might even snag a souvenir or two tossed from the course.
While Steph may be off chasing Olympic glory, the American Century Championship remains a must-attend event for Sierra Rec regulars. It’s a winning combination of world-class athletes, A-list celebrities, stunning scenery, and charitable giving – all wrapped up in a uniquely Tahoe atmosphere. So dust off your favorite sports jersey, grab your shades, and head down to Edgewood Tahoe. After all, summer in Tahoe isn’t complete without the American Century Championship!
