29th Annual Ride – Sunday June 5, 2022 – Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe, June 3 2022 – In conjunction with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition , Bike the West brings back a regional favorite to Lake Tahoe. Sunday hundreds of cyclists of all levels will take to the road in Lake Tahoe “Clockwise” to support a great cause and ride one of the most scenic rides in the world.

The 72-mile America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride circumnavigates the highways clockwise around Lake Tahoe in both Nevada and California. It includes a challenging 800 foot climb to a rest stop overlooking Emerald Bay and a 1,000 foot climb to Spooner Junction. There are also many short rolling ascents and descents totaling over 4,024 vertical feet of elevation gain! The altitude ranges between 6,300 feet and 7,100 feet above sea level and the ride is recommended for conditioned recreational bicyclist, not for beginners. Participants must be at least 14 years of age (please, no children on bike carriers or trailers) and must be experienced in riding roadways.

Registration is closed online for new riders, however you can support riders as they ride by or they do offer same day registration the morning of the event.

Join Team In Training (TNT) to line up at America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride while fundraising in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s goal of curing blood cancer and improving the lives of patients and their families. By joining the TNT community, you will embark on a journey that expands beyond crossing the finish line on ride day. Be part of a network of teammates, coaches and staff dedicated to helping you achieve your fundraising and training goals, and enhance your ride weekend with the new TNT event weekend experience including start line priority, private packet pickup, complimentary ride entry, pre-ride Team Rally & Dinner, and more! All teammates receive a TNT cycling jersey and access to an innovative training app connecting you to experienced coaches and teammates across the country.

California Highway Patrol and Nevada State Police will assist with event traffic control and coordinate emergency services.   Please Share the Road and Ride Responsibly!

Start Times

All 100-mile Century riders have four 15-minute start windows from 6:00am to 7:00am.

All 72-mile riders have two 15-minute start windows from 7:00am to 7:30am. You must indicate your start time preference on your registration application, based on your ride option, or you will be assigned the earliest start window for your ride option

 

Road Closure: Northbound HWY 89, Emerald Bay Road:

Northbound Hwy. 89 – Emerald Bay Road will experience a 2 Hour Traffic Delay administered by the California Highway Patrol,  just north of Camp Richardson Resort at Baldwin Beach Road.  Vehicle Traffic and unregistered bicyclists will be stopped and delayed from accessing Northbound Hwy. 89 from 6:30am to 8:30am, the morning of the ride on Sunday, June 5, 2022. This road closure / delay will be enforced by the Eldorado County Sheriff’s Department.  Southbound Hwy. 89 traffic lane will remain open at all times.
