August 1–2, 2025 | 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day | Virginia City, Nevada

The rumble of vintage V8s and the shimmer of polished chrome are about to echo through the canyons of the Comstock. Hot August Nights, Nevada’s iconic celebration of classic cars and rock ‘n’ roll, kicks off its 2025 festivities with Crusin’ the Comstock in Virginia City—an opening weekend tradition that blends high-octane horsepower with Wild West history.

On Friday, August 1 and Saturday, August 2, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Virginia City’s historic C Street will close to vehicle traffic and transform into a living museum of American automotive culture. Hundreds of gleaming classics—restored hot rods, muscle cars, and cruisers from decades past—will line the wooden sidewalks of one of America’s largest historic districts. And with live music echoing from balconies and saloons, and local shops welcoming visitors with old-fashioned hospitality, this isn’t just a car show—it’s an immersive throwback experience.

A Historic Backdrop for Classic Machines

“There’s nothing quite like Hot August Nights in Virginia City,” says Todd Tuttle, tourism director for Virginia City. “It’s more than a car show—it’s a celebration of our town’s history, community, and classic Americana. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, it’s a great way to explore the streets that helped shape the West.”

The event’s signature Show-n-Shine brings car lovers face to face with restored classics along C Street, while volunteers from Hot August Nights will be on hand to assist car owners with parking and logistics. During event hours, C Street will be closed to through traffic, but alternate routes are in place:

  • B Street remains open for north/south traffic.
  • D Street will be one-way southbound from Mill Street to Hwy 342.

Visitors are encouraged to park outside the closure zone and stroll the historic downtown—enjoying photo ops with the cars, sipping drinks on wooden boardwalks, and stepping inside museums and saloons that date back to the 1800s. It’s a walk through history with the hum of horsepower in the background.

More Than a Car Show

Virginia City has always leaned into its roots—silver mining, saloon culture, storytelling, and a bit of good-natured spectacle—and Hot August Nights Opening Weekend brings all of that to life. From live music stages to hidden gem gift shops and eateries, this event delivers something for every generation.

And while it’s only 30 minutes from Reno, Virginia City feels like a world away . The preserved architecture, elevated mountain views, and rich sense of heritage offer a backdrop you won’t find at any other classic car meet.

Whether you’re rolling in with your own restoration project or just want to walk among the legends of the open road, this is one weekend that deserves a spot on your Sierra summer calendar.

About Virginia City

Once the heart of Nevada’s silver boom, Virginia City today stands as one of the most storied and well-preserved historic towns in the American West. Burned to the ground in 1875 and rebuilt with grit and grandeur, it remains a living monument to frontier spirit. From the Mark Twain Museum to Piper’s Opera House, every block tells a story—and Hot August Nights adds a vibrant new chapter each year.
