Get ready for an exciting day of giving back to the mountains we love! This Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort is hosting the 16th annual Keep Sierra Clean Day. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a day in the great outdoors, help preserve the environment, and enjoy the beautiful fall scenery before winter sets in.

Event Overview

Keep Sierra Clean Day invites you to be part of a mountain clean-up event filled with fun, camaraderie, and high fives! Participants will have the chance to hike down from the top of the mountain while collecting trash and hidden treasures along the way. With chairlift access to the top of Grandview, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the lake before beginning your 2.5-mile descent to the base. Take this opportunity to scope out your winter ski lines while helping to clean up the trails. Note that the only way back down is by hiking, as no scenic lift rides will be available.

Reforesting the Future

In addition to cleaning up the mountain, participants will have the chance to plant trees in collaboration with the Sugar Pine Foundation, USFS, and the El Dorado-Georgetown RCD. This year’s tree planting will focus on reforesting the parking lot areas and the main road. Head over to ‘D’ lot after your hike to get involved and leave a lasting impact.

Free Lunch and Fun Prizes!

All registered participants will be treated to a free lunch at Solstice Eatery from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Plus, there are prizes up for grabs, including awards for the most unique item found and the most trash collected! Be sure to stop by the weigh station between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM to see how much you’ve collected. The prize ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM.

Family-Friendly, Dog-Friendly

This event is perfect for families, and dogs are welcome too! Just make sure they’re well-behaved and on a leash at all times. Keep in mind that while your furry friends can hike, they won’t be allowed on the chairlift (only patrol pups get that privilege!).

How to Join

Registration and check-in start at 9:00 AM, and the first 200 people to check in will receive a Keep Sierra Clean Day t-shirt! If you’re planning to ride the chairlift, make sure you check in to receive your wristband. Lift access will be available from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. You can also save time by pre-registering online and signing your release of liability ahead of time.
