Date: July 26, 2025
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Classical Tahoe Ricardi Pavilion, UNR at Lake Tahoe
Tickets: classicaltahoe.org

This summer, Sierra Rec Magazine invites you to witness something truly extraordinary: a world-class performance set beneath the open sky in North Lake Tahoe. For one night only, Classical Tahoe and the Lake Tahoe Dance Collective unite to present Music in Motion—an immersive evening where live chamber music and masterful dance share the stage.
This rare cultural event will feature principal dancers from the New York City Ballet, Boston Ballet, and beyond, performing to a live score by Classical Tahoe musicians—talent hailing from institutions like the Metropolitan Opera and San Francisco Symphony.
“Music in Motion is a celebration of movement and musicality… bringing together some of the world’s most celebrated dancers and musicians for this inspiring event.”
—Laura Hamilton, Artistic Director, Classical Tahoe
A Program that Dances Across Time and Style
The evening’s performance is as diverse as it is beautiful, featuring:
- Duo Concertant (Stravinsky/Balanchine)
- After the Rain (Pärt/Wheeldon)
- Black Swan Pas de Deux (Tchaikovsky/Petipa)
- World Premiere of Auerbach in Three Movements (Auerbach/Curran)
- Suite of Dances (Bach/Robbins)
- And more…
Every movement will be elevated by live performance from pianist Donna Lee, violinist Xiao-Dong Wang, and cellist Eileen Moon, making this evening not just a show—but an experience.
Why This Matters to the Sierra Community
This collaboration reflects a growing vibrancy in Tahoe’s cultural scene, bringing global artistry to a regional audience. As Christin Hanna, founder of Lake Tahoe Dance Collective, shared:
“To see two organizations presenting such a high level of performing arts in North Lake Tahoe is a win for our community, our audiences, and the cultural fabric of our area at large.”
Make It a Lake Tahoe Evening
Pair the event with dinner in Incline Village, a sunset stroll along Sand Harbor, or even a weekend getaway in Tahoe’s North Shore. Just don’t wait to grab tickets—this one-night-only performance is expected to sell out.
