Virginia City, Nev. – In honor of the Silver State’s 161st anniversary of statehood, Virginia City welcomes the public to dance the night away at the annual Nevada Statehood Ball on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests will gather inside the historic Piper’s Opera House for an evening together, enjoying live music by Renegade Orchestra, light hors d’oeuvres and dancing. “As one of the state’s most historic landmarks, Piper’s Opera House is the perfect place for the community to come together and celebrate Nevada’s birthday,” said Todd Tuttle, tourism director. “The Statehood Ball is more than just an evening of music and dancing; it’s a chance to connect with our neighbors, honor the rich history that shaped our state and create memories that will last a lifetime. Every year, we see people of all ages enjoying the festivities and learning Victorian dances. We encourage everyone to join us this year and be part of this special night and celebrate Nevada in style.”

Reflecting on the Silver State’s journey from its mining roots to modern-day prosperity, the Nevada Statehood Ball is a long-standing tradition that brings the community together each year. In addition to historical music performed by Renegade Orchestra, this event gives attendees the opportunity to participate in popular Victorian-era dances. Prior dancing experience is not necessary as a dance master will guide attendees through the routines. Adding to the evening’s charm, a tintype photographer will be capturing one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted portraits on metal, offering an authentic keepsake to remember the celebration. Appointments for tintypes are limited, so guests are encouraged to reserve their spot early.
