Lake Tahoe, CA/NV — Trail lovers, rejoice! Just one week into August, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) has already hit its $15,000 fundraising goal for its annual “Raise the Rim” campaign—and the momentum is still building.

“This early success is a testament to how much people care about the Tahoe Rim Trail,” said Lindsey Schultz, Executive Director of the TRTA. “We’re grateful for every mile logged, every dollar raised, and every person who has stepped up to support the trail we all love!”

Now in full swing through August 31, Raise the Rim invites hikers, bikers, runners, and equestrians to log miles and raise funds in support of one of the Sierra’s most cherished trail systems. The 174-mile Tahoe Rim Trail loops around the ridges of the Tahoe Basin, offering scenic adventure and solace to thousands each year.

Funds raised go directly toward:

  • Trail maintenance and sustainability efforts
  • Youth backcountry camps
  • Education programs
  • Long-term stewardship and protection of the trail

It’s Not Too Late to Join the Fun

While the initial goal has been met, the TRTA isn’t slowing down. More participants are encouraged to join in, set personal mileage or fundraising goals, and push the collective impact even further. Weekly prize drawings sweeten the deal for anyone logging miles on the trail—whether you’re doing a weekend out-and-back or tackling a full section.

“How much higher can we Raise the Rim?” Schultz asked. “Every additional dollar raised this month helps us protect and maintain the trail for future generations.”
