Sierra Rec Magazine is a regional tourism magazine focused on the sites, events and locations within the Sierra Nevada mountain range and surrounding communities. Since the publication first appeared in 2014, readers have relied on Sierra Rec Magazine for informative and entertaining features on the Sierra Region of California and Nevada. Readers are active travelers and explorers of the Sierra Nevada.
We feature high-quality photographs showing the best of the Sierra National Parks, forests, wilderness, and communities. If you have crisp, well-composed, beautiful photos that relate to the subjects we feature, we may be interested in printing them in our online magazine and special sections.
PHOTO SUBMISSIONS: We prefer digital submissions—E-mail images to Publisher Charlie Pankey at charliepankey@sierrarecmagazine.com. If applicable, please put the Location and photo date in the subject line. We will contact you later if we need the high-resolution version(s). We prefer you send an initial sampling of low-resolution images, and please provide your mailing address. Please edit pictures down to a small selection of your best shots.

PAYMENT: Photos will be accepted on speculation. Payment is on Photo inclusion Online content or special Pdf editions online.

*It is important to note that payment could take up to a month after publication to get processed and mailed to the photographer.
ASSIGNMENTS: We rarely set up assignments with photographers. However, if you have a subject that you are interested in reviewing, we accept communication on article ideas and features and will assign approved projects individually.
COPYRIGHT: The magazine purchases First Electronic Rights. In addition, by submitting your photograph, you grant Sierra Rec Magazine the right to publish, distribute, and archive. Otherwise, you use the picture in whole or in print, electronic, or any other medium and for promotional purposes related to Sierra Rec Magazine and Sierra Rec Magazine‘s products, services, and issue overruns. Sierra Rec Magazine is a division of Valet Marketing, which sometimes uses the magazine’s content in marketing efforts, including Locals Choice.com.
We will keep all CDs and thumb drives for future use unless you tell us otherwise. You are allowing us to consider your images in the future.
PRINT-READY IMAGES: If we request a high-resolution image of yours, we’re considering it for a print publication. Digital images should be 300 dpi, 8.5 inches wide if possible. Please include caption information with all photos. If we have indicated a spread or photo feature, 11 x 17 inches or larger files may be required. The magazine reserves the right to crop or edit all images. We accept eps, jpg, and tif files. Some photographers choose to send their files via Dropbox or an Internet service like it.
