Advenco LLC, a subsidiary of ExplorUS, was selected as the new 20-year special use permit concessionaire for the resort during a competitive bid process that began Sep. 1, 2022. Immediate plans for the resort include an update of all the historic hotel furnishings, a remodel of the general store, with cabin upgrades starting in 2024. The lakefront restaurant (name to be announced) will reopen in early 2024 with a full renovation planned for the building in the coming years.

Under the 20-year permit, ExplorUS will operate the historic hotel, cabins, beachside inn, Richardson House, campgrounds and RV park, general store, ice cream parlor, mountain sports center and restaurant.

Reservations for the campgrounds and RV park will be integrated into Recreation.gov allowing visitors the ability to see all LTBMU campsite availability in one location. Current resort reservations for 2024 will not be affected by the change in management. Hotel, cabin , and Richardson House reservations will continue to be managed directly by the resort.

“This is the next exciting chapter for Camp Richardson. ExplorUS will build on the tradition that has been welcoming families, guests, and the Lake Tahoe community for 100 years,” Walker said.
