Volunteer Opportunity: Join the Donner Lake Deep Clean on August 29th-30th!

As summer winds down, the lakes of the Sierra Nevada are calling on us to give back. Whether you’re an experienced diver or just someone who loves our beautiful lakes, there are two fantastic opportunities to help preserve these natural treasures.

Donner Lake Deep Clean: August 29th-30th

Join the Clean Up the Lake organization for an exciting new project at Donner Lake! This Thursday and Friday, August 29th and 30th, certified SCUBA divers will dive deep to clean the lake at depths of 35 to 55 feet. Using advanced techniques like diver propulsion vehicles (DPVs) and nitrox, they’ll cover more ground and ensure a thorough cleanup.

Volunteer Roles Needed:

  • Nitrox + DPV Certified SCUBA Divers
  • Kayakers
  • Boat Captain

If you’re interested in helping, please respond directly to Clean Up the La ke. Even if you can’t participate this week, you can still join future cleanup efforts.

Labor Day Cleanup at Lake Tahoe: September 2nd

Celebrate Labor Day by joining the League to Save Lake Tahoe’s 10th annual Labor Day Cleanup at Kings Beach State Recreation Area. On Monday, September 2nd, from 8:30 to 11:30 am, volunteers will gather to remove litter, refresh the shoreline, and clean up nearby areas.

This is a wonderful way to wrap up the summer and show your appreciation for Lake Tahoe . No prior experience is needed, and volunteers of all ages are welcome!

Event Details:

  • When: 8:30 – 11:30 am, Monday, September 2
  • Where: Kings Beach State Recreation Area, Raccoon St, Kings Beach, CA
  • How to Participate: Register in advance at keeptahoeblue.org/laborday

By participating, you’ll not only help keep Tahoe blue, but you’ll also contribute valuable data about the litter collected, which the League uses to advocate for important environmental policies.

Removing trash from these sensitive environments helps protect our lakes and wildlife. Plus, it’s a great way to connect with fellow nature lovers and make a positive impact.
