Bass Lake Bike Trails

It’s not just the pristine waters, Bass Lake is world-renowned for its mountain bike trails. Beginners can have a blast all around the lake, but mountain biking masters have also been known to flock to this region. With trails like 007 on Old Central Camp Road, or the reconditioned trails on Goat Mountain, riders can find every level of adventure.  The Sierra National Forest along the southern border of Yosemite National Park is home to a wide variety of mountain bike riding opportunities. Bass Lake provides riders with a great home base, with Goat Mountain, Spring Cove, 007, and Willow Creek trails all starting and finishing at the lake. The towns of Oakhurst, Fish Camp, and Bass Lake provide visitors with a wide variety of accommodations for longer stays and more riding.

Cruise to the Top: Intermediate Adventures

  • Goat Mountain Escapade (8 miles round trip): Choose between two routes – Forks Trail or Spring Cove – to conquer Goat Mountain and reach the iconic Fire Lookout Tower. Take in breathtaking views while keeping an eye out for poison oak.

Challenge Yourself

  • 007: A Multi-stage Masterpiece (3 to 20 miles): This legendary trail offers five distinct sections, each with its own character. 007 (First) throws a thrilling downhill at you, while 007 (Second) tests your skills with a rock garden challenge. Section Three boasts flowy singletrack with a choice for a final flourish: a steep and technical rock garden for the truly fearless. Remember, a full-suspension bike is recommended for this trail.
  • Willow Creek: For the Elite Only (variable distance): This double-black-diamond trail demands a full-suspension bike with at least 5 inches of travel. Not for the faint of heart, Willow Creek is a technical masterpiece reserved for experienced riders.

Bonus Rides:

  • Brown’s Creek: Easy Green Escape (3,102 ft): Looking for a relaxed pedal? Brown’s Creek is a multi-use gravel road perfect for a scenic and casual ride.
  • Shuteye Peak Challenge (OHV Road): Calling all off-highway vehicle (OHV) enthusiasts! This Jeep trail is a heart-pounding climb with epic views from the Shuteye Peak Fire Lookout at the summit. This route is best suited for experienced 4×4 drivers due to the steep inclines and rocky terrain.
